MOSQUITO SPRAYING SCHEDULED

As expected, the number of pools of mosquitoes testing positive for
West Nile virus continues to increase each week. An additional nine pools of mosquitoes have tested positive bringing the total number in
Franklin
County (not including the City of
Columbus) to twenty-three for the season. Many areas have already been sprayed. To see the complete list of areas with positive pools of mosquitoes visit our web site at www.franklincountyohio.gov/health.

Additional spraying will likely be scheduled this week but as a start we will be spraying the following areas on Tuesday, August 24th:

New Albany - all areas

Plain
Township – all areas

Madison
Township – all areas (including the
Village of
Brice)

Sullivant Avenue and also the far west areas

8:30 p.m. (weather permitting).

For your safety and the safety of our operators do not approach or walk up to a spray truck. If you are in your car do not follow a spray truck when it is operating. If you are in a vehicle, raise the windows, turn on the air conditioning (on recirculation mode), and wait for the truck to pass or find an alternate route. Be advised that you may also want to remain indoors with the windows closed when spraying is taking place (if possible). Typically, windows can be reopened within 30 minutes after our trucks have passed.

Clinton
Township (west) and the

Obetz came back positive for
West Nile virus. Those areas will be sprayed again Wednesday night.
Clinton
Township (east) and
Mifflin
Township will also be sprayed due to a positive pool in our weekly
Clinton
Township (east) trap.
